Back in Time
A Study of Our Local History
By Roy Goyette
As the clock strikes twelve midnight each day the previous 24 hours are forever placed into history. Unfortunately, a lot of history has been lost forever because folks never took the time to record either in writing, drawing or photographs, their surroundings, their jobs, their lives in general and the geographical locations that they worked and spent time in. As we move about in our busy lives and see changes happening on a daily basis, we do not realize the impact those changes will have on future generations. When simple recordings of all things current are not made and archived, the important building blocks of our civilization are lost, some may never be found again. That becomes a great loss to the future inhabitants of our Community. To understand the past, both good and bad is relevant to just how well future residents will move forward in a positive life enriching fashion.
In an effort to record some of the history of Citrus Springs and surrounding areas, I have begun to accumulate as much information as possible. I have interviewed a couple of residents and gathered some information from our Community Library, however, there is much more to the story. This is a story that needs to be written and I will do so in small installments as I am able.
If you or anyone you know has been a resident of Citrus Springs or Dunnellon since it’s development or earlier I would love to hear your story. Please contact me at CSCA.roy@Brighthouse.com
