This Community Internet
Directory is designed to promote our community and to be a service for our
residents, helping to provide our neighbors with easy access
to a wide array of essential, informative and entertaining pages. We
provide free basic listings for
businesses in Citrus Springs serving this community, and offer a wide array of expanded services
(including web site design and hosting) to local
businesses in exchange for different levels of sponsorship and in gratitude for
the important contributions they make to our community and its
residents. All clubs and non-profit organizations within Citrus Springs are
invited to send in news or web pages for free inclusion in this directory. All
residents who would like to have their email addresses, Instant Messenger info
or personal (non-business) web page link listed free on the community residents
online page, are invited to submit same.
Citrus Springs is a
master planned community in beautiful Citrus County, the gem of Florida's
Nature Coast, with a convenient west Central Florida location. It was
originally designed by the Deltona Corporation and then was under their
successor company Citony Corporation. There are NO homeowner's
associations nor dues. Membership in the Civic Association is voluntary
and encouraged.
Citrus Springs is a
deed-restricted community and Citony
transferred enforcement to the Civic Association. Under the deed
restrictions, builders of new homes and homeowners making additions to their
property, including pools, fencing and sheds, are required to obtain approval from the Association's Architectural Review Committee prior to construction.
Citrus Springs is platted for 35,000 lots
with about 32,000 set aside for residential use and developed lots are served by
a central water system. Other zoning includes commercial, churches,
hospital and medical, and parks and recreation. The population here
should eventually rise to about 100,000 people. The current population is
estimated at about 7,000+. Citrus Springs would be considered a mixed
demographic middle class
community. While it was started with retirees, there are now many families
here. We have two elementary schools and a middle school, and future plans
for a high school to be constructed on a
site that Citrus County has selected right near the middle school. Each school has
about a thousand pupils. Among its amenities, Citrus Springs has a
Memorial Library, two 18 -hole golf courses - nationally acclaimed El Diablo
Golf Course and Citrus Springs Golf & Country Club (fees apply - membership not
required), public tennis Courts, baseball field, parks, playgrounds, a 2 million
dollar Community Center, numerous clubs and activities, and the
Withalacoochee State Trail- start of 46 mile paved trail for walking, jogging
and biking. In addition, Citrus Springs has twelve active churches,
stores, businesses, restaurants, pizzeria, bank, doctors' offices, a Fire
Department & EMT Unit, and a Municipal Service Benefit Unit to fund and manage
infrastructure. Development continues to increase and a
toll way was built to connect this county to Tampa Florida. The Suncoast Parkway now extends north to the Citrus County border and has cut the travel time in half.
A further extension is planned through Citrus County, west of Citrus
Springs. Three exits will give Citrus
Springs easy access to this toll way and make it possible to commute to Tampa in
under an hour.
